The Hargifex is a chimera (head of a boar, body of a wolf, feet of a rabbit, tail of a fox) which embodies the joy of the hunt. It loves to be chased, never growing tired, and has the ability to always run just faster than its pursuer. Thus pursuing the Hargifex is a fruitless effort. One does so only for the thrill of the activity or to test one’s self, not for the unattainable goal of success.

In the same manner, I don’t have a grand plan for this blog to fulfill. Currently I intend to use it to discuss games (mostly roleplaying games) and my thoughts and designs related to them. As there isn’t a specific goal, I’m acknowledging that the discussion may be unfocused and that I’ll likely annoy readers by disdaining to defend a given thesis.

Mostly, I’ll just post what occurs to me in tangents, scraps, and open questions I don’t have the answer to. Feel free to let me know what you like or hate.

Oh, and I made up the bit about the Hargifex – a faerie creature of my own invention from an Ars Magica game I ran. So far as I’m aware, it can’t be found in any bestiary; though there may be similar creatures from myth.
